Things You Didn't Know About Your Vehicle

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors) come standard in all new vehicles because of the Tread Act. We recommend the grommets in the sensors be replaced every other time the tires are replaced. The grommets become dried out and start to leak. The grommets come as a kit: a core, nut and grommet. When doing a flat repair, rotation or changing a tire, vehicles equipped with TPMS may have to be driven in order to get the low pressure light off. Some foreign cars have a re-learn procedure and may require the system to be flashed. |
MILLIONS ROLLING ON BALD TIRES!! This according to the RMA and AAA. Nearly 28 million vehicles are in dire need for new treads. At a time where the weather is a factor “Drivers may be delaying necessary vehicle maintenance to save costs, but that delay may cost you more dearly if worn out tires lead to a crash with injuries or fatalities.” 64% of car owners do not know how to check tread depth! Air pressure can also pose a safety risk. If not properly inflated the tires sidewall may become compromised. Air pressure can affect vehicle fuel consumption negatively. Over inflation can be just as dangerous. If you are unsure please ask us! |

ROTATIONS are recommended every 5-6000 miles. This helps get proper mileage & even wear. It also helps us to catch any potential issues with how the tires might be wearing due to a problem with alignment. Long Island is notorious for potholes so it doesn’t take much to knock an alignment out. We do rotations at no charge (most vehicles) when purchasing 4 tires. We also discount alignments to $50.00(most vehicles)! |
YES! The manufactures (RMA) recommend that when only replacing two tires they go on the rear axle of the car. Regardless of if the vehicle is AWD or FWD. This is also a safety issue and a relatively new one at that. The first thing a car looses especially on a wet surface, is traction in the rear. |
